It is important to get your credit report to see the credit situation and see what happens and who is looking for your information. If you find errors, you can have them corrected. You must obtain your credit report at least twice a year at least once. This is realistic and useful for you to obtain a copy of the report before applying for credit, employment, a mortgage, apartment or insurance. The advantage is that there will be no surprises and you have the opportunity to clarify the elements hindering the process. The Fair Credit Reporting Act says that you are entitled to a copy of your credit report as often as you want on demand. If you a resident of Massachusetts, is entitled to a free copy of your credit report once a year from each agency. For residents in other states, cost is approximately $ 10.00 per report. If you've been denied credit based on information in your credit report, you can receive a free copy of your report if you apply within 60 days. You can get a free credit report if you are unemployed and actively seeking employment within 60 days, you can also get a free credit report if you receive public assistance, or if your report is inaccurate because of fraud. If you request your report online, you must pay a fee, regardless of their situation.
There are three major credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. It is recommended to contact them directly by phone or online for easy ordering instructions. You should get at least one report each agency. The information for each can be slightly different.
The credit reports are slightly different in format but contain the same type of information as follows:
Login information: Your name in full, including middle name and his son first, second or third .., Alias. Your Social Security number, address, employment and marital status is one of those credentials.
Public record information: Judgments, tax liens, bankruptcies, foreclosures, alimony, ordered by a court or any other elements that have been the judicial system.
Account Information: creditors who have an account, how much you owe each creditor, the more you have in each account, your credit limits and repayment history.
Information: The name of any company or individual who has seen your credit report and the date on which they have seen.
